Rooted
[ Fabric Construction ]
This project takes inspiration from the diverse textures found in trees, seeking to replicate these natural features in textiles. By observing various tree species, I explored their unique patterns and tactile qualities, such as the ruggedness of bark, the smoothness of polished surfaces, and the intricate grain patterns. I used different techniques to develop multiple fabrics.

WEAVING
In the woven piece, a texture study was conducted focused on touch and feel to broaden the exploration, using unconventional materials like paper shavings and cardboard.

DYEING
In this piece, the nui and kabuki methods of shibori dyeing were used to create patterns and textures on the fabric. The nui technique involved hand-stitching to shape the fabric, while the kabuki method used folding and binding to produce distinct designs.

STICHING
Made by layering different fabric scraps and stitching them together, this piece showcases the use of upcycled materials.
